Megan's 6th Birthday Spa Party

Thanks to a few fabulous friends, we were able to pull off Megan’s Spa Birthday party today. A few people have asked me to tell all about it on the blog so they could copy some of the ideas….so here it goes. : )

For starters, the invitations were little pink mirrors with a silver bow and a label with party information. As the girls arrived for the party, the entry was set up with artificial trees leading them in to the table where they sign in for their ‘appointment’ beside their name.

They then were led into the dining room where there were children’s magazines that they could sit and look at in the ‘waiting room’. They then would wait there until their name was called.

First, they would be called into the front room where they would get foot soaks and massages by Natalie then get their ‘before’ picture taken. At this station, they received their goody bags which already had some candy and a necklace in it. After this, they would rotate between the other 4 stations.

At one, they would get their fingernails filed and painted, then get to keep the pink nail file and nail polish and add it to their goody bag.

At another, they would make body glitter and take it home in a tiny plastic tub.

At the 3rd, they would get their hair done by a stylist from a local salon and they would receive a pink plastic brush here for their goody bag.

Finally, at the last station, they got their makeup done and took home the makeup set that was used on them, plus a sparkly lip gloss.

As they were going from station to station, Natalie and her friend, Meghan, were walking around serving frozen grapes and chocolate covered strawberries on silver platters.

After they had been to each station, they chose a princess dress off of the rack and took it into the laundry room to change.

As they came out, they got their ‘after’ picture taken. Here is Megan's 'before and after' picture.

We then gathered in the living room for present time.

Time for cake and singing HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

They were served sparkling grape juice and a cupcake. They also had 'Princess' Goblets that help Raspberry Sherbet ice cream.

Then we had time left for dancing.....

and a game of 'pass the crown'.

At that point, I think my help was ready for the party to be over. ; )

Thank you to EVERYONE who helped out. It was a lot of fun!

Disney World ~ Sept 2008

On Thursday, Sept 25th, the girls got up and started getting ready for school like any other day. Natalie was very excited for school because they were going to watch the 'Matilda' movie...the same as the book they had been reading. I told her she seemed pretty excited for school and was there anywhere else that she would rather be? She replied by saying 'Disney World' so I asked Chris to get the suitcases out of the closet and we told the kids that we were headed for Disney World and we needed the leave for the airport within the hour! We were watching fireworks over the castle by the time the night was over!
It was very exciting and we had a great time! The best part.....the whole thing was paid for by BeautiControl for when I became a Director!

1st Day of School

The girls started school yesterday and it was a little traumatic.....and not for the child I would have expected it from. Natalie was SO excited to start school, she woke up before the alarm clock went off and was fully dressed and ready to go. All the kids were wearing shirts that the school gave them for the 1st day.

We walked across the street to her new school and met up with a couple of neighbor kids.

We then found her teacher with the line of students. Just then, Natalie's eye's filled up with tears and she broke down! I think that this was because she realized that she didn't know anyone in her class. As the bell rang and her class started to go inside, she held on tight to my arm and leg and the teacher had to peal her off of me! It was terrible! Her teacher quickly emailed me to let me know that as soon as they went in the building she was doing much better. As you can tell by the look on her face, she was trying hard to be happy!

Megan was SO ready to go for her 1st day of kindergarten.
She goes in the afternoon so I told her she would go after lunch. She told me all morning that she was hungry thinking that this would speed up the process and she could go to school earlier. : ) The time had finally come! We started to walk out the door and Megan was already headed down the street! I had her stop for a quick picture and then she was off!!!

I tried to take a picture of Megan as she entered the school, but she would not turn around for anything! She was GONE! : )

The end of the day finally came and I went to pick them up. I found 2 smiling girls! Thank God!!! They both were talking a mile a minute about their amazing days! Our prayers have been answered and they enjoyed school! YAY!

The story will continue on how long it lasts that they enjoy their school days! ; )

Trip to Keystone

We made a last minute decision last week to go spend a little time in the mountains. We packed our bags with Grandma (Chris' mom) and Kent and took off within a matter of hours. It was a very nice little 'getaway'. We had a 2 bedroom Condo that was beautiful! Since it wasn't peak season, they were able to upgrade our rooms to a nicer Condo with a beautiful view! It was amazing!

Here is a pic of Natalie and Megan out on the balcony.

Just a short walk away from our room was a ski lift. It took a lot of coaxing, but we finally talked Natalie into riding on it to see the views up top of the mountains. Megan was ready to go from the beginning and very excited!

If you look closely in the picture to the left, the 2 tiny dots two lifts behind us was Chris' mom and Kent. : )

Once we got on the ski lift, Natalie suddenly forgot all of her fears and she was in total 'awe' of the beauty that God had created. She was still gripping with all of her might and complaining of sore fingers as we finally talked her into releasing her white knuckles from the bars. This picture was taken on the way back down the mountain when both girls finally were brave enough to look over at me for a picture. At this point, Natalie to take 10 more rides to the top. ; )

Here is a picture of Chris' mom and Kent at the top of the mountains.

We took a walk around the resort and found a beautiful trail with gorgeous scenery!

I must admit, another highlight of my trip was finding the nearby mall that had an outlet Coach and Lucky Brand store! ; )

We had a great time and can't wait to go back over Thanksgiving weekend. At that time, there should be snow for a sleigh ride and possibly some skiing! : )

My Attempt at Craftiness

So those of you that know me know that I am not a 'seamstress' of any kind. So when my neighbor shared this idea with me about 'no-sew' curtains, I had to try it out. For the girls bathroom, (with the neighbors help) I found a piece of material that matched...folded it over, thumbtacked it to the wall, hot glued a trim piece and a ribbon and WA LA! It was done!

There are pink and green dots in the material that don't show up very well on the picture.

And here is the finished project.

Chris and I also transformed Megan's room into her own little Tinkerbell haven!

We added wainscotting to the top half of the wall and painted the bottom purple. Her favorite part of the room are the wings that we hung in the corner. : ) I think it will be a while before Chris and I work together hanging wainscotting. Our first experience with it was our laundry room......

I like the looks of it, but it sure was a pain! No more projects for a while. : )
